Rudd Rules Out Beazley As Governor-General

Kim Beazley will not be appointed Governor-General, according to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

Following speculation in today’s Fairfax newspapers about the possibility of the former Opposition Leader becoming  Governor-General, the Prime Minister says that no current or former Labor or conservative politician will get the job.

The position becomes vacant later this year when Major-General Michael Jeffery’s five-year term expires.
