Rick Santorum Withdraws From Republican Presidential Contest

Rick Santorum

Rick Santorum has announced his withdrawal from the Republican Party’s presidential nomination race. The announcement was made in Gettysburg, in Santorum’s home state of Pennsylvania, where he served as a senator for 12 years until his defeat in 2006.

Santorum made no mention of Mitt Romney and did not endorse him. His decision finally confirms that Romney will run against President Barack Obama in November’s general election.

But he was elected on a promise to fix them, and he cannot claim that the last three years have made things anything but worse: the percentage of Americans with a job is at the lowest in decades. One in five men of prime working age, and nearly half of all persons under 30, did not go to work today. [Read more...]

President Obama just addressed a Congressional chamber filled with many new faces. One face we did not see tonight was that of our friend and colleague, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona. We all miss Gabby and her cheerful spirit; and we are praying for her return to the House Chamber. [Read more...]
