Statement On Court Of Appeal Decision - Premier Supports Court Decision
The fact that the Court of Appeal had allowed the appeal of Pauline Hanson and David Ettridge further underlined the independence of the court process, Premier Peter Beattie said today (Thursday).
"I have always stressed the fact that there should be no political interference in the court system and that in a free and fair society courts must operate completely independently," said Mr Beattie.
"I repeat what I said at an earlier stage of the proceedings involving Mrs Hanson and Mr Ettridge - there has been no political interference by the Queensland Government in this case.
"I fully support the decision of the Court of Appeal."
