Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies delivered the Jefferson Oration at Monticello on July 4, 1963.

In the fourteenth year of his second term, Menzies had just been knighted by the Queen.

Monticello, in Charlottesville, Virginia, was the home of Thomas Jefferson, third president of the United States of America.
