1980 Federal Election: Channel 7 News Melbourne

This is a video of Channel 7 News in Melbourne on September 18, 1980, one month before the federal election.

Look for a youngish Paul Keating and a report on the promotional campaign by the Army Reserve.

The federal election was held on October 18. The coalition government led by Malcolm Fraser was elected to its third term with a reduced majority. The Labor Opposition was led by Bill Hayden.
