The others, including Bob Katter, were previously elected as members of political parties.

  • Peter Andren has never been a member of a political party.
  • Bob Katter held Kennedy for three terms as a member of the National Party, before resigning in July 2001.
  • Tony Windsor was once a member of the National Party. He was defeated for pre-selection for Gwydir in 1990 and was elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly seat of Tamworth in 1991.
