The recording is of the 7.45am broadcast on Melbourne radio 3LO/774.

The news reports the defeat of the Howard coalition government after nearly 12 years in office and the election of Kevin Rudd and the first Labor government since 1996.

The news notes that Malcolm Turnbull was one of the only coalition members to record a swing towards him. It suggests that Peter Costello will become leader of the Liberal Party.
