Florida Recount Favouring Gore

November 12, 2000

Vice-President Al Gore A manual recount of votes in 3 precincts in Palm Beach County, Florida, has produced an extra 19 votes for Democratic presidential candidate, Al Gore. On this basis, it is projected that a full manual recount in all precincts could give Gore an additional 1900 votes, more than enough for him to take Florida's 25 Electoral College votes and become the 43rd President.

The Bush campaign will seek an injunction from a Federal court judge on Monday to stop the manual recount. Given that the recount seems to be in accord with Florida state electoral law, it is difficult to see this injunction being granted.
