Florida Supreme Court Orders Recount; Gore Now Back From The Brink Of Political Death

Craig Waters Announcing the Decision of the Florida Supreme Court 8.05am AEST - The Florida Supreme Court has just ordered a recount of votes in Florida.

The decision was ordered by 4 votes to 3.

The court ordered that 215 votes previously counted in Palm Beach County and 168 votes in Miami-Dade County be included in the results.

The effect of the inclusion of these votes is to decrease George W. Bush's lead from 537 votes to 154 votes.

The court also ordered a recount of undervotes in any Florida county that has not already done so.

An immediate appeal by the Bush camp to the United States Supreme Court is expected any minute.
