Hijacked Passengers Called Families To Say Good-Bye

The second plane about to hit the World Trade Centre

Horrifying news reports are emerging with details of what happened on the hijacked planes involved in the terrorist attacks in the United States. The hijackers permitted passengers to telephone their loved ones before they died.

One of the passengers was Barbara Olson, wife of the Solicitor-General, Ted Olson. She called her husband twice from the plane which crashed into the Pentagon. Ted Olson appeared on behalf of George W. Bush in the legal battles in Florida following last year's presidential election. Barbara Olson was a prominent critic of former President Bill Clinton during the impeachment saga of 1998-99. Clinton is holidaying at Port Douglas in Queensland. The American media has gone into overdrive to report the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. The Washington Post printed a late-afternoon edition and internet sites have been providing blanket coverage. Click here to view the front page of the Washington Post.

There are now unconfirmed reports of a truck containing explosives on a bridge near the World Trade Centre. The truck has been stopped by police and 3 people arrested.

CNN is also reporting that trapped survivors are making calls from their mobile phones seeking assistance.
