Government Announces Industry Innovation And Competitiveness Agenda

The Federal Government today announced an Industry Innovation and Competitiveness Agenda.

Speaking at a press conference in Canberra, the Prime Minister, Tony Abbott and the Minister for Industry, Ian Macfarlane, announced a series of measures to life apprenticeship rates and encourage employee share ownership. The plan also aims to promote science and technology skills in school, reform the 457 visas programme, and establish Industry Growth Centres.

“A Plan For Australian Jobs” – Gillard Launches Industry And Innovation Statement

The federal government has announced a $1 billion plan to promote jobs and productivity.

Howard Launches ‘Backing Australia’s Ability’ Policy

Returning to work for the new political year today, the Prime Minister, John Howard, has announced extra spending as part of his government’s Innovation Action Plan.

The funding includes $2.9 billion over 5 years for “the strengthening of our ability to generate ideas and undertake research; accelerating the commercial application of these ideas; and developing and retaining Australian skills.”
